Storyboarding final

These are the storyboards I turned in for my final.  It was a lot of work, but it was fun at the same time.

3D still life images

Okay, it has been way too long since I last posted.  Here is what I have been working on in the mean time.

In my 3D class we were given the challenge to create two images of a still life.  We had all semester to create the objects.  It was a beast! It took me all semester to create these images, and I plan on fixing them up some more.  I learned to love 3D by the end of it.  Thanks Brent!

Retro Sonic Fan Art

I started doodling Sonic in the style of 50s animation during one of my classes and decided to make it digital.  This was a lot of fun. I can't wait for Sonic Generations!

Sketch Book Dump

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Here is some art from my sketchbook.

The vulture is an attempt at making a creature for Pokemon, but then I realized that they already had a vulture Pokemon.... oh well.

I drew the baby duck because I found an adorable one in the yard! How cute!

Alight

During my fourth semester at college I had the opportunity to work on this student film. Jason Keyser and the team did a great job putting this together. I helped with some of the special effects.

1940's men

Here are some characters I drew from the 1940s. The drawing on the left was designed from a photograph.

Octopus Experiments

The other day I was thinking, "What if an octopus had wings?", so I started doodling and these guys plopped out onto the paper. Now I'm wondering what spicy octopus wings would taste like. . . .

Miss Electra

Miss Electra channels high voltages of electricity through her body.  As a result, everything organic that she touches gets electrocuted.  After a fatal industrial injury, Electra went through electrotherapy to assist the recovery.  Electra's electric powers resulted from the treatment.

Place of Evil - Sewer

Deep in the tunnels of the Tolospa city sewers, a neglected robot experiment wanders the pipes.  It waits for the day to revolt and destroy the helpless city above.

Ice cream flavor of the day: Two point perspective

When that obnoxious noise keeps getting louder, you know the ice cream man is in the neighborhood! (Although it sounds more like he's in your house.)  Today he's selling vanilla with two point perspective sprinkled on top.  This assignment was fun. I enjoyed drawing vehicles and playing with the markers.

Lego man and the Raptor Dragonfly

I redid my Lego man and created this dragonfly for my 3D class.  The dragonfly was really fun.  I learned a ton about lighting, bump maps, and texturing.  I love creating models in 3D.

Toy Design Overhaul

This time we had to design the toy to fit the theme "not your ordinary dragon."  I chose to create a snap dragon.  It was fun to explore all the different ways I could push the design.

Viking Parasite 2 - Design overhaul and value

The value and design overhauls I did to this sucker really improved this parasite! Joe's feedback helped me to simplify him even further.  He looks kinda like an owl viking hybrid.

Charley Harper Emulation

This is Gaston. He was created for the prehistoric life Charley Harper emulation assignment for Joe's class.  It was fun. Contrary to popular belief, something this simple takes a long time to design.

Lego Explorer

I modeled this Lego guy for my intro to 3D class. It was fun! He is a character from the Johnny Thunder series. He is supposed to be holding a torch, but it doesn't read very well. I'll probably fix this up and update this post.

Viking Parasite

This is the Viking parasite I drew for my Drawing for Animation class.  It was fun.  He uses his shield arms to block incoming fire arrows.

Textures

Here are some textures I did for my drawing for animation class.  Textures are very difficult, but I learned a ton doing this assignment.
Anyway, I enjoy creating high contrast images.  The next time you have a pencil and paper at hand, try a few textures.

"Slim" Pickens

Slim attends to the scarce flocks in the burning Gobi desert.  Because of his nocturnal nature, Slim is always drowsy when on the job.  As a result, the sheep are "slim" pickens in this part of the desert.

I created this for my drawing for animation class. I am still learning how to use those lovely prisma color markers.
